Ethics & Sustainability

  • We source our recycled metal from Cookson and Gold, a British supplier which has strict auditing in place to ensure transparency and quality.

    Using recycled materials supports circular production which breathes new life into metal which has already been extracted from the earth.

  • Our gems are sourced from a few select suppliers who are industry-known pioneers in ethics and traceability.

    From mine to market the gemstones are fully traceable, conflict-free and they mostly come from small artisanal mines.

  • Yes. All of our packaging is made with a combination of recycled and FSC paper, sealed with vegan paper tape. We don’t use any plastic. From time to time, the postal staff in Spain add some sellotape. We’ve tried to implement solutions but it depends on the staff member.

The Jewellery

  • The jewellery is designed and made by Lyd in her Barcelona workshop. It's a jeweller co-working space with lots of natural light and good energy.

    Some pieces or components are cast in Barcelona’s gothic quarter and finished by hand by Lyd.

    Our chains are manufactured in the UK and the ear scrolls are manufactured in Italy.

  • Adding a symbolic or spiritual meaning to the pieces is something which came naturally. The intention being that you can connect with your jewellery over life’s milestones and use it as a small reminder to live with consciousness and introspection.

  • If you are local to Barcelona, Lyd attends regular markets and has the jewellery in a few locations. You can browse the stockists for more information.

  • No. Although the jewellery is recycled, it goes through a refinement process and comes out free of nickel and/or other toxic alloys like cadmium.

Ordering

  • Orders are dispatched within 3-5 days. If you're in a hurry, let us know and we’ll try process your order as quickly as possible.

    Some items such as gold hoops are dispatched in 2 weeks as we order solid gold in by demand.

  • Orders are usually sent with Correos España standard post. Some shoppers have the option to select UPS as a faster service, subject to regional availability. The estimated times are as follows:

    Spain (excluding islands)

    Correos: 2-5 days


    EU
    (excluding islands)

    Correos: 7-14 days

    UPS: 3-6 days


    Outside of EU

    Correos: 14-21 days

    Customs
    Orders outside of the EU may be subject to import delays and duties in the destination country. In such cases, these are the responsibility of the customer. Thank you for your patience.

  • You can select ‘local pick up’ at the check out and later collect from our workshop in Poblenou, Barcelona.

    Your item will be ready for collection when you receive a 'ready for pick up' email.

  • Yes. Just put the recipient’s address as the delivery address at the checkout. You can also leave a note at checkout should you have a special request. For example some may wish to write ‘Don’t open until the special day’ or similar on the outside of the box.

    Don’t forget to browse our greetings cards, we offer a hand written gift card service.

  • While extremely rare, should your item become lost in the post, please get in touch and we will do our best to assist.

    After 28 days we are able to make a claim with the courier. As a small artisan brand, we appreciate your patience in such cases. These things are out of our control but we will always do our best to resolve the issue.

Sizing

  • The most effective way to find out your size is to go to a jeweller and get sized. Alternatively you can work out your own size using our sizing guide.

    We always favour the inside diameter in milimetres because it’s universal and there’s no conversion or confusion.

    Remember that custom sized pieces are not included in our returns policy so if in doubt, go to a jewellers or get in touch.

  • Most pieces of jewellery can be returned for a different size. You can send your piece back to us within 14 days and exchange it for another size. Please first get in touch to discuss your needs.

    Exceptions

    Custom sizes can not be exchanged because they are made to order. In such cases, we can potentially resize for a small fee depending on the design.

    If you have bought a one-of-a-kind Art Works piece, it may only be available in the size you ordered, in such cases we can assess your needs. If we can resize it, we will do so for a small fee. If we can't resize it, we can issue a refund if returned to us in 14 days.

    Gemstone pieces can not be resized so we encourage you to be absolutely sure of the size before you order.

  • If you’d like to change your chain length, simply send it back to us within 14 days and let us know which length you’d like.

    We offer 4 sizes: 40cm /45cm /50cm /55cm.

    If we have it in stock, we’ll send it out straight away.

    Gold chains
    Gold chains are ordered on demand and will need to be quoted as gold prices change daily and different lengths alter the price. You can get in touch for a quote.

    Since we order gold chains from the UK, there may be import delays. We ask for your patience in such cases.

Jewellery Care

  • Handle your jewellery as you would handle a work of art to prolong the state it arrives in. Take it off for exercise or activities and take care not to expose it to humid environments, cosmetics or cleaning products.

    Store in an air tight container when not in use, away from other jewellery so it doesn't become scratched or tangled.

    Gemstones are hard minerals but can still be vulnerable to their environment. Each gem has its own properties, hardness level and care guidelines. For example, turquoise and opal are porous and shouldn’t be exposed to heat or oils. Be sure to research your particular stone or get in touch for more information.

  • You'll need:

    Some aluminium foil

    60ml warm water

    1 tbsp salt

    1 tbsp bicarbonate soda

    Cover the base of a bowl with some foil.
    Add the salt and bicarbonate soda.
    Pour hot water into the bowl.
    Stir to dissolve the powders.
    Place your silver in the solution.
    (Don't place jewellery with gemstones.)

    The silver may take a few minutes to brighten, keep an eye on it. If the piece is very tarnished, you may need to polish the jewellery by hand with a cleaning cloth.

Repairs & Reconditioning

  • Yes. If your jewellery breaks in the first two years, Lyd will repair it free of charge. There after, you can get in touch for a quote.

    This warranty does not cover broken gemstones from wear and tear or accidental damage. We recommend that you make sure your precious gemstone is insured.

  • Our relationship doesn't end with your purchase. If your jewellery has lost its shape or doesn’t quite look how it used to, you can send it back for reconditioning. This service is free of charge.

    To help us manage the work load, there is just 1 reconditioning service per customer per 18 months in which you can send up to 10 pieces of Musa Mundi jewellery. Sending in bulk also reduces the overall carbon footprint.

Returns

  • You can return your order within 14 days for a refund or exchange. However this does not apply to all orders. Some exemptions are:
    1) made to order pieces
    2) custom sized pieces
    3) earrings - for hygiene purposes

    The jewellery you return must be unused and in its original packaging.

    Please send your jewellery insured/with tracking. We can not be responsible for lost items on their way back to us.
