Come and get your gem freak on as you make your very own ring with the ancient technique of sandcasting. You’ll start by developing a design and carving a wax ring, then you’ll position your gemstone for sandcasting. No two pieces ever come out the same and it’s always so exciting to see how the molten metal captures the gemstone. Lastly, you’ll cut the sprue and neaten up your ring ready to wear.

COME AS YOU ARE
We’ll provide everything from wax, tools and silver, just wear comfortable clothes fit for a workshop like old jeans and natural fibres.
BEGINNER FRIENDLY
This workshop is ideal for those who’d like to ‘dip their toes’ in sandcasting and come away with a unique ring. You don’t need any prior jewellery making experience and will be supported at each step.
GEMSTONES
You’ll be provided with cubic zirconia gemstones for your cast however if you’d like to cast with a more valuable gemstone, there will be a selection of ethically sourced sapphires or spinel stones to choose from for an additional fee of around €30-€80 a stone.
DURATION
Depending on the pace of the group and individual needs the course lasts 3-4 hours with a small break in between wax and casting.

Hey, I’m Lyd and I’ve been making jewellery for ten years. I have a lot of knowledge to share on sandcasting as it’s my favourite jewellery technique. My teaching style is relaxed and warm, however I also want to empower you to get confident with the craft and connect with your inner artist so you can expect thorough explanations, patience and enthusiasm to share. Ven a sacar tu lado más gem freak y crea tu propio anillo utilizando la antigua técnica de fundición en arena con arcilla delft. Empezarás desarrollando un diseño y tallando un anillo de cera. Después, colocarás tu piedra preciosa para preparar la fundición en arena. No hay dos piezas que salgan exactamente iguales, y siempre es emocionante ver cómo el metal fundido abraza y captura la piedra. Por último, cortarás el bebedero y darás los últimos retoques a tu anillo para que quede listo para llevar.

VEN TAL Y COMO ERES
Nosotros proporcionaremos todo lo necesario: cera, herramientas y plata. Solo tienes que llevar ropa cómoda y adecuada para un taller, como unos vaqueros viejos y prendas de fibras naturales.
APTO PARA PRINCIPIANTES
Este taller es ideal para quienes quieran iniciarse en el mundo del moldeo en arena y salir de la experiencia con un anillo único. No necesitas tener experiencia previa en joyería: te acompañaremos y ayudaremos en cada paso del proceso.
PIEDRAS PRECIOSAS
Para la fundición se te proporcionarán piedras de zirconia cúbica. Sin embargo, si prefieres trabajar con una piedra de mayor valor, podrás elegir entre una selección de zafiros o espinelas de procedencia ética, disponibles por un suplemento de aproximadamente 30-80 € por piedra.
DURACIÓN
Dependiendo del ritmo del grupo y de las necesidades individuales, el curso dura entre 3 y 4 horas, con una pequeña pausa entre el trabajo con cera y la fundición.
